What is CogniSpine?
CogniSpine is a passive, non-digital, three-dimensional surface designed for lying prone.
There are no electronics, moving parts, vibration or programmed functions.
You position yourself on it and lie there.
What do I do when I use CogniSpine?
You lie prone in the intended position.
Once positioned, there is no exercise or movement to perform, no breathing technique to follow, and no particular state you need to try to create.
The product is passive, and its use is passive.
You simply lie on it.
What does CogniSpine enable?
CogniSpine enables a supported face-down position using its three-dimensional shape.
Different areas of the surface support different parts of the body.
Once positioned, you simply lie on it.
CogniSpine is passive.
Is CogniSpine a medical device or treatment?
No.
CogniSpine is a comfort product, not a medical device or medical treatment.
Someone told me CogniSpine helped them. What does their experience tell me?
It tells you something about their experience.
It may also be part of what brought CogniSpine to your attention.
What they noticed, what mattered to them and how their experience developed belong to their history.
We cannot use that history to tell you what you will experience.
Can you tell me what I will experience?
No.
We can tell you how CogniSpine is designed and how it is intended to be used.
We can show you what has been measured in Research.
And we can share what different people have described from their own experiences in Living Over Time.
None of those tells us in advance what you will experience.
I'm looking into CogniSpine for someone else. Where do I begin?
Sometimes the person looking into CogniSpine is not the person who may eventually use it.
You may be helping a parent, partner, family member or someone else.
What you have observed, what you hope might help, and what matters to you are part of why you are looking.
The person you are helping has their own experience of what is happening and what matters to them.
Those are not necessarily the same.
We can provide information about CogniSpine.
Where possible, the person who may use it can also participate in understanding what it is and deciding what, if anything, they want to do.
Is there a fixed schedule for using CogniSpine?
No.
The User Manual provides practical guidance for beginning and using CogniSpine.
Has CogniSpine been scientifically studied?
Yes.
A randomized experimental study published in 2023 measured heart-rate variability and other physiological and subjective measurements during a single 10-minute period.
A second pilot study conducted in 2025 measured HRV and an HEG measurement associated with prefrontal cortical activity before and during CogniSpine use.
The two studies used different designs.
The Research page describes the studies and provides access to the published 2023 paper.
Where can I find instructions for using CogniSpine?
The current User Manual contains instructions for positioning, beginning use, safety, cleaning and storage.
